Paul Smith SS15

Paul Smith SS15 and Walking In the Summer Sun

In fashion time flies differently. In fashion you live in the future. Future is your presence and present moment becomes past quickly. Sometimes too quickly. In fashion you run, not walk. Walking is a luxury, which not many can afford. In fashion you glance, because there is not enough time to look.

I like looking. Even if it means that I won’t see everything, I still prefer to look rather than glance. This season, for the very first time, I was watching the shows through the lenses of my camera. I was looking at the collections but I was trying to capture something more than just clothes. I was trying to record the moment and keep the presence for a bit longer.

Paul Smith chose Central Saint Martins as the location for his SS15 show. On the early Sunday afternoon, austere walls of Granary Building filled with public. After explosion of vivid colours and clashing prints last season, this time Paul Smith woman has chosen different, much more toned down palette. She opted for white, beige, delicate blue and light grey but she didn’t forget about black. Black was the darkest and the strongest colour. The same as patterns, this time used very carefully. Simple stripes. A lot of stripes. With a pinch of flowers in final looks. Paul Smith woman wasn’t in a rush, nor on a run. She was walking and she seemed to enjoy that moment. She was relaxed but elegant. She was strong but feminine. And she was beautiful in this totally effortless way. She knew that she is. And she didn’t have to prove it.
